Aaron Harinck - Portfolio

I was required to breathe new life into an old craft or pastime. I also had to create a website for their association.

I wanted to revive the forgotten craft of shoemaking. I knew that it was a hard process, so it would require members who are really passionate.

That is why I made it for “eccentric” people. The ones who cross the street dressed like a pirate, or with a big colorful top hat. People who have the guts to be themselves, and are proud of it.

I noticed that the shoes are more often than not the least eccentric part of them. Colorful sneakers with custom patterns exist, but they are often not as amazingly creative with shoe shapes, textures, materials, ... as they could be. And because making shoes is really hard, it can be quite daunting to create your own custom shoes.

By creating an association for these eccentric people, they will finally get the chance to create and have their own custom shoes. Connecting with like-minded individuals and get a chance to show off their hard work. That is what the crazy sneakers (“gekke gympies”) association is all about.

The website design is bold & quirky, with a vibrant color palette variation of CYMK print colors to best represent these bold people.
